Beyond the Circle – Piano Solo

Beyond the Circle is een meeslepend soloprogramma voor piano waarin Tommaso Farinetti eigen composities verweeft met improvisatie. Uitgeschreven werk vloeit over in muziek die op het moment zelf ontstaat, terugkerende motieven veranderen en duiken opnieuw op, en de grens tussen compositie en improvisatie vervaagt gaandeweg.

Het programma put uit Farinetti’s recente pianowerk, aangevuld met nieuw materiaal en spontane overgangen. Omdat het publiek dicht bij de vleugel zit, wordt het concert een intieme en ontroerende ervaring, waarin de kleinste nuances van aanslag, klank en stilte hoorbaar worden. Het resultaat is een diep beroerende voorstelling die telkens anders verloopt, gevormd door de piano, de ruimte en de mensen die erbij zijn.

Bio

Tommaso Farinetti is een Italiaanse pianist en componist die in München woont. Als pianist trad hij op in concertzalen in heel Europa, waaronder het Prinzregententheater en de Isarphilharmonie in München en het Teatro Filarmonico in Verona. Hij speelde ook met de Münchner Symphoniker.

De voorbije jaren legt Farinetti zich steeds meer toe op zijn eigen muziek. Zijn pianowerken haalden samen meer dan 35 miljoen streams op digitale platformen en vinden luisteraars over de hele wereld. Compositie en improvisatie staan even centraal in zijn muzikale taal: uitgeschreven stukken openen zich vaak naar improvisatie en krijgen bij elke uitvoering een andere vorm.

Naast zijn concert- en opnamewerk is Farinetti een gevestigd componist voor film en televisie. Hij schreef uitgebreide originele soundtracks voor documentaires op grote Italiaanse tv-zenders, en muziek voor internationale filmproducties, waaronder Sweeter Than Dessert. Samen met pianiste Serena Chillemi vormt hij bovendien het Minimal Duo.

Beyond the Circle is an immersive solo piano programme combining Tommaso Farinetti’s own compositions with improvisation. Written pieces flow into music created in the moment, recurring ideas change and reappear, and the boundaries between composition and improvisation gradually dissolve.

The programme draws from Farinetti’s recent piano works alongside new material and spontaneous transitions. With the audience seated close to the instrument, the concert becomes an intimate and emotionally engaging experience, where the smallest details of touch, resonance and silence can be heard. The result is a deeply affecting performance that develops differently each time, shaped by the piano, the space and the people present.

Bio:

Tommaso Farinetti is an Italian pianist and composer based in Munich. His work as a pianist has taken him to concert stages across Europe, including Munich’s Prinzregententheater and Isarphilharmonie and the Teatro Filarmonico in Verona, and he has performed with the Münchner Symphoniker.

Over the past years, Farinetti has increasingly focused on his own music. His piano works have reached more than 35 million streams across digital platforms and attracted listeners worldwide. Composition and improvisation are equally central to his musical language, with written pieces often opening into improvisation and taking a different shape in each performance.

Alongside his concert and recording work, Farinetti is an established composer for film and television. He has written extensive original scores for documentaries broadcast on major Italian television networks, as well as music for international film productions, including Sweeter Than Dessert.
